Tommy is a very special boy with a wild history... literally. Tommy's mother showed up on a local farm one day eating the owner's dogs' food. She was completely feral and no person could ever get near her, but she never left the property. She had several litters before the family decided to coral all the babies together in a fenced-in area. But then they just left them there... They didn't receive any human contact at all, except when someone would bring them food, but that was it. They couldn't catch their mom, for them to be together, but the puppies grew up to be just as wild as she was, due to the lack of interaction with humans. There were 9 kids in all, in the small fenced-in area. Another rescue came and took the 5 best ones. Hoping that they could be rehabilitated and adopted. And St Francis Farm came in and we took the other 4. There's no better word to describe those 4 one-year-old dogs that came to the farm, than wild. They had no desire to be touched by people at all, but they loved hanging out with the other dogs. They got to play and run and were finally given the space they needed to stretch out. Over time, Tommy has learned to trust certain staff members, and will even allow the most trusted ones to touch him while he is in his crate. But when he gets outside, he wants his space! Tommy will probably never be comfortable enough around people to be able to be adopted. But he is a beautiful dog, that loves to play and is wonderful with other dogs. He helps get shy dogs to play and come out of their shell and gives them someone to run around with. He deserves a good home that can give him the space he needs, and that is exactly what the farm provides for him.
