Macy is a true classic! She is an all around good, well behaved and affectionate dog. Foster mom thinks she has an old soul! She seems to be a shepherd, akita, labrador mix. To some she can look a bit intimidating, like Red Riding Hood's wolf, but she is anything but intimidating: her personality is wonderful and loyal, and her temperament is calm, mellow, and very relaxed. She is cautious but non threatening with new people, but warms up immediately and loves positive attention. She is great with children and will make a great family dog.

Like most rescued dogs, after several weeks in her foster home she has turned into a grateful happy, confident dog. She is always good company; easy and fun to train with love and treats. In the morning she is happiest sharing breakfast with toast and bacon and graciously 'shakes' her big paw for her bacon bites...(Sharing with foster mom, less with other dogs!)

When all that is finished she loves to play with her doggie friends and run around the yard. Fortunately, she is not much of a yard barker and does not try to climb fences or dig tunnels to escape. If she gets the chance she loves a roll in the mud and sand along the river, and of course loves to swim and play in the water. Her favorite terrain are trails in the woods, but she also enjoys a walk through the neighborhood and enjoys sitting patiently with foster mom at a restaurant patio...especially with her own order of chicken nuggets. She would love and deserve a dog park membership and trips to an off leash beach. She needs long walks or frequent run & play times with other young active dogs. (She is good with cats.) Her leash manners are good most of the time. When she plays with other dogs she tries to be the alpha dog, but plays well nonetheless. With her much smaller beagle friend she can be a little rough sometimes, but it's more the beagle that provokes her...Macy is one happy dog when she can jump in the car and go for a trip to the park or simply come along to run errands. She will be fun to take along on a doggie vacay!

She is also independent and doesn't mind a little bit of doggie alone time, and with a treat she doesn't mind spending some time in her crate. But since she is house broken, she doesn't really need to be locked up in a crate: she is happiest snoozing in a comfortable dog bed or on a cool floor in the summer. She is happy to see you, always, but does not jump up to people. Fortunately, she does not have separation anxiety. One thing that is important to her is her stable routine: sometimes, if she feels she is suddenly left behind without a quick potty break or if she has to go to bed a little earlier and is not in her crate she may still act like a puppy and gets into something, like a roll of paper towel which she thinks is fun to shred. She has not however destroyed anything important.

Macy is a very expressive good looking dog, with handsome proportions, a sweet face, tall and long legged. Macy has a beautiful thick brown, black brindle colored coat; she sheds a good bit so she  needs to be groomed and brushed frequently. She enjoys it and goes along patiently with a bath as well. It is a great bonding time!

The fortunate person or family who will decide to adopt Macy will end with a loyal and grateful companion because she is so easy to be with and most content just spending time with her human.
