Patch has a long road that has led him to call the farm his forever home.

He is a Blue Heeler, a herding dog, that likes to have a job! Patch's first family had children, and he hadn't been trained at all, so he started herding the kids. He never hurt them, but the family did not like this, so instead of training him, they just decided to take him to a local kill shelter.

Taking a dog like Patch to a shelter, was basically a death sentence, but the owner was going to hand him that sentence either way. Telling staff that if someone didn't take Patch, he was just going to go home and shoot him....

Furious with the owner, but knowing we couldn't let this happen, St Francis Farm stepped up right away and took Patch in! Desperately wanting to give him the chance to find the perfect home for him, Patch went to our parent rescue in NY. Circumstances there, quickly led him back to the farm, but not before catching the eye of a couple who fell in love with him. They drove all the way down from MA to the farm to take him home. We thought he had finally found his place, but unfortunately, over time Patch started to show aggression. Back at the farm to stay, this is where Patch will live out his life. The farm was made for dogs like Patch!

You can help fund Patch's long term care at the farm, by joining our Animal Angels program and becoming his monthly sponsor!

Monthly sponsors will provide a steady stream of funds that ensures Patch can live happy and healthy here at the farm. Funds will go directly to his care for food, medical treatments, safe housing, and the love and care of our wonderful staff.

Monthly sponsors will receive an update every month with a picture of how your consistent funds are helping Patch and the other animals here at the Farm.
